Question

I am in the military. My pay came from Indiana. Does that mean I have to file for that state's taxes too?

Your pay came from the federal government. You must file wherever your state of legal residence is on your home of record.

    • If IN is not your SLR, you were stationed in IN:
      •  and had a side job, you would need to file for that.
      • only military income, no need to file IN
    • If IN is your SLR, then you file a resident return on all your income.
