Question

I am on Active Duty. My LES ans W2 both say Texas but I am stationed in Virginia. Why is Virginia being calculated as my state of residency?

Since you are active military, your Home of Record or State of Legal Residence is Always your resident state on the tax return, regardless of where you are stationed.

Go back to the My Info section and change your resident state to Texas.  Where asked if you lived in any other states select NO.  Where asked if you made money in any other states select NO.
