I joined the military in March of 2019, and I worked at the YMCA before that. When it asks if I made money in another state would I claim the state I worked in before the Military?

Yes,  if you made money in another state that is not your military home of record you may need to indicate that in the TurboTax program and file a return for that state if you meet the filing requirement.

You can search on the internet for the state department of revenue to find if you have a filing requirement for the state.

If you went into the military from the same state where you worked for the YMCA and the military has that state as your home of record, no matter where the military moves you the state tax return you file is for the Military Home of Record.
