Question

My husband is in the military. His home of record is Utah, but he has not lived there in the past 7 years. Do I put down that he lived in another state in 2020?

If Utah is his military home of record, then for tax purposes he remains a resident of Utah as long as he is on active duty - unless he formally changes his state of legal residence with DFAS.

In the My Info section of TT, enter Utah as his State of Residence.

Answer NO to the question about living in another state.

You would also answer NO to the question about earning income in another state, unless he had income in the other state other than his military pay.
