Question

My husband retired from active duty military and we moved back to our home of record with orders does this qualify as a deductible military move?

Yes, you may deduct the cost of your move back to your home as long as it was within one year of the end of active duty status.

Deductible items include the cost of travel and moving and storing and insuring your household goods.

To enter these expenses into TurboTax:

  1. Enter the search term moving expenses in the search tool (magnifying glass) in the upper right of the program.
  2. Click on the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Follow the prompts that appear.

Thank you for the support of your husband during his time of service, and a special thank you to your husband as well!
