State Residency Status

My residency during active duty was Texas.  I separated active duty in Oct 2019 while stationed in New Mexico.  I transitioned to the Air Force Reserves the day after separating (working at the same base in NM that I was on active duty at).  We owned our primary home in New Mexico we bought when we were stationed there in 2018 but made no efforts to establish New Mexico residency as we were planning a move to Utah that we accomplished this month (Feb 2020).

What residency status do I claim for my New Mexico State tax return?  Turbotax selected 'first-year resident' for us however we don't meet the 'intend to make New Mexico our permanent place of resident' portion of the requirements.  We also don't meet the 'part time resident' since we were physically present in NM on Dec 31, 2019.  We don't meet the non-resident option as we hadn't established residency in Utah yet.

I would suggest you keep your resident state the same as your state of record, since you haven't established a new resident state yet.
