Where in TurboTax can I add the costs for shipping household pets for a military move? The IRS website said it can be deducted on the Form 3903, but the option for shipping household pets does not show on the TurboTax website.

While there is no specific area for pets, you can include the amount as below.

Which moving expenses can I deduct?

You can deduct expenses (if not reimbursed or furnished in kind) for:

  • Moving household goods and personal effects, and

  • Travel.

Moving household goods and personal effects.

You can deduct the expenses of moving your household goods and personal effects, including expenses for hauling a trailer, packing, crating, in-transit storage, and insurance. You can't deduct expenses for moving furniture or other goods you bought on the way from your old home to your new home.

@ColeenD3

Thank you!

Is there a list of expenses we can claim for the pet shipment? Can we claim airline fees, customs and delivery, and ground transportation? Those are the three expenses listed on our invoice that we thought might be reimbursable.

There is not necessarily an all inclusive list, however, airline fees, customs and delivery and ground transportation would all be part of the shipping and travel costs.
