In the year he retires, he may get both a W-2 and a 1099-R form.

1)  A W-2 would go in as any other W-2 in the Wages&Income section

2)  His retirement pay is reported to Him and entered in the software as a 1099-R form. Just like any other 1099-R, also on the Wages&Income page, but scroll down to the "Retirement Plans & Social Security" section ....and you enter everything on the 10999-R into the 1099-R software form....and that includes the Federal taxes withheld (and state if also done).

Make sure you have his paper 1099-R form in-hand before attempting to enter it into the software.
