How will that work this year? Will we receive all of the money since they did not pay us every month for six months like they did last year?

That enhanced child tax credit was only for 2021.   For 2022, the amount of the child tax credit reverts to a maximum of $2000, just like it used to be.  There are no monthly payments for 2022.   When you file your tax return for 2022 you enter your dependents and you may receive the child tax credit of up to $2000 -- depending on the amount of income you earned from working.   For 2021 you could get the CTC even if you did not work.  That is not true for 2022.   The amount of your CTC will be based on the amount you earned.
