I file my mom‘s taxes every year through TurboTax and this year is the first year she no longer has a mortgage.  Her only income is Social Security and her 401(k) do I still have to file taxes for her? She also has no other wright offs.

    Hi Debbie1dog2,

Happy to assist! Hope you and your mom are well. Since your mom has social security benefits and other source income, 401(k) she might have a filing requirement.  Please see below table for threshold amount for filing requirements.

    Single Under 65 $12,550
    65 or older

    $14,250

Hope this helps you and please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Laura
