This may not be the right GROUP but I can see no way to reach Intuit or TT folks online or on phone to discuss.

Due to a computer crash in 2021 I lost my 2021tax FILE.  So I ordered 2022 TTD and started loading in information including a LOT Of names for charitable groups I pay into each year.

The last TTD update maybe one week before 29 Jan 23 wiped out all my data I had put into the program.

Since I probably cannot recover that now (?) I'm trying to find a way to IMPORT that data from an earlier TTD program (like 2020) but even when I change its name the 2022 TTD program will not accept it.

Does anyone have a workaround they might suggest?

You will not be able to transfer the data from the TurboTax Desktop 2020 version to the current years version, but you can transfer the data from a PDF of your 2021 tax return if you have that saved on your computer. If you are preparing a new tax return that has no data:

    1. Launch TurboTax and select Start A New Return (it will look for your 2021.taxfile)

You will see this screen since you indicated that you lost your 2021.taxfile

        2. Select Browse and navigate to where you stored your PDF from last year and select open

        3. Follow the onscreen instructions.

For additional information regarding transferring your tax data from last year, please review the TurboTax Help articles Can I transfer last year’s PDF to 2022 TurboTax for Windows CD/Download software? and Transfer last year's return to 2022 TurboTax for Windows.  If you are using a Mac, please review the TurboTax Help article Can I transfer last year's PDF to 2022 TurboTax for Mac?
