After verifying identity 4883C, how long does it really take? Especially if you claimed EITC

So I filed 1/23 and accepted 1/24 after not receiving my refund I contacted the IRS and they told me I was “suppose” to get a letter but hadn’t received it yet. I received letter 3/5/18 and successfully verified my identity 3/5/18.. I claimed EITC, I’m a single mom and need my money back in hopes of getting my car fixed. Can anyone give me hope? 9 weeks is so unacceptable

The IRS states it can take up to 9 weeks for them to process your paperwork and release your refund. Some taxpayers that are in similar situation as yours have reported that it has taken 5-6 weeks for some to receive their refunds. Keep in mind each taxpayers situation is unique and it could take the full 9 weeks.

I filed 2/7, got ltr 5071C on 3/8, & verified my identity online & received confirmation that it was complete & verified. Then on 3/11 received ltr 4883c, & called & verified my identity a 2nd time & passed. Was told to wait 2-3 wks before checking wmr, b/c I'm still getting the same msg as if I didn't file but should get my refund in 9 wks.  WTH! Has anyone else had this problem?"

Ok. So I filed on January 25 2019 and of course the IRS accepted it on the 29th. So I waited the 24 hours and it said received. A few days later I got the message"we cannot provide any info with alTax topic 152

So when I called I was told I was told to  use extension 362. So when I finally got on the line with a human, she made me answer some questions trying to verify my identity. However I didn't pass. She then told me I should wait the full 21 days before calling back.

So after the 21 days I called back. They asked me if I received a letter I hadn't received it.  However , she told me that I would have to go into one of the offices to do an Identity Verification . So my appt. Was on Monday March 4, 2019. I went and verified my identity.  She said allow up ro 9 weeks. However today I have my orange bars back and a refund date of March, 13 2019.

I verified mine over the phone on March 4th. Did you have bars before this is. Or was you just receiving the message 9001. I am still checking wmr and getting the same stupid messeage.

I filed for the electric return Feb 13th an also claimed eic ..  and after 4 days I got the generic message on WMR site that said please contact IRS .. I called the IRS an she told me that a letter would be mailed to me an she read what the letter said so I already knew that it was for identity verification . As I also had to do the identity verification last year .. They said Most likely I would receive the letter on my original expecting deposit date an that was supposed to be the 20th March . On March 16th I got the Paper it was a 5071C identity verification . They posted on the paper that they sent it to me on March 13th .. I had to wait to verify my identity until that Monday 3/18 with success of verifing .. I checked WMR web page everyday between 12am an 6am .. an on March 23rd at 3:30am I checked the site again and my bars was back with an expected DDD ( Direct Deposit Date ) of March 27th an no later then April 1st .. So glad I didn't have to wait the whole 9 weeks they was talking . Last year I had alot of issues verifing when I filed in Feb an I didn't get a check until August 17th .. They had to send me a paper check .. Hope everyone gets there money asap . Just wanted to let everyone know my story in hopes it helps . Ik reading your all's story's definitely helped get me through . God Bless ...

This is 2021! I received a 4883c, 5 months ago I haven't heard or seen anything about my refund, stimulus checks, ( I've only received the very first one of $1200. It was by mail, I've already lost everything but my dog my daughter n law is paying for my phone. I started drawing Early retirement check of 773. A month That's not much I'm a 62 year old woman who has worked since I was 13  I had to get a workers permit back then so I've worked 50 years and only received that, I'm trying desperately to get my disability this makes my 3rd time. God nothing has come easy for me, I'm one of those people that always get pushed back to the back of the line on things but I keep trudging through and silently fighting for myself cause no one will ever help much. But I keep trying, I NEED HELP TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY MONEY!!

How did you find the irs office? And what happened exactly if you don't mind me asking?

The IRS site with information on Letter 4883c currently has:

After we successfully verify your identity, we’ll process your tax return. It may take up to 9 weeks to receive your refund or credit any over-payment to your account.

There is more information directly at their page IRS Letter4883c

Does it really take 9 weeks exactly? Or longer or less ?

April 12, 2022

I filed 1/31,waited until March12th to call them but I was getting the “delay beyond normal time” message on WMR. They said I was under review and to check back within 60 days normally but 120 because of the coronavirus. Heck no! I’ve been calling every week since then. I then received a verification ID letter. I did it online and called yesterday To verify over the phone finally after 2 hours of being on hold. She told me she adjusted some things after I verified and Ide have to wait 9 weeks to see my refund. Has anyone experienced this before and what was the outcome?

Yes, this is a normal IRS process that has been slowed down due to COVID. Once you get through the identity part you are on the home stretch. Nothing to do now but wait.
