In CA, when you claim HOH, you have to fill out a questionnaire that asks a series of questions about your qualifications for HOH.  Sometimes people answer those questions differently than they did in the Personal Info section of the turbotax program.  You can call CA and ask the specific questions that caused your denial and determine if you answered one wrong.  If so, you can send an amended questionnaire form by mail, without the rest of your return, to make a correction.  If the place where you answered wrong was actually in the Federal Personal Info section, you would have to amend both your federal and state returns.

Did the FTB say that the person you claimed for head of household made too much money?

The letter states that I indicated that no qualifying person lived with me during the taxable year. I filed head of household on the federal return and the state return was done by turbo tax from the federal information ? What do I do now ?

You were asked the same question on the federal return.  Again, the rejection is based on the questionnaire you filled out in CA.  Who did  you say was your qualifying person in the federal return?  Both the fed and CA make exceptions for parents or step-parents who do not have to live with you as long as you meet the other qualifications.

Among other requirements, the qualifying person's gross income for the year must be less than the Federal exemption amount for the year.

Did you indicate that she lived with you all of 2014 (which is okay for newborns)?
