Hi Hitme,
If you have already filed your return you cannot change your information.  You would have to wait until your return gets accepted or rejected (January 31st is when the IRS opens their efile system).  If your return gets accepted,
you will not be able to make any changes.

If your bank information is incorrect, the bank will reject the deposit and return the funds to the IRS. The IRS will automatically switch you to receiving a check. The IRS will then mail you a check for the refund.

If your return gets rejected, you can then go back through the file interview to make your changes. For the online editions of TurboTax click on File located on the left side of the online program screen.  Go through the interview in File and
you will come to the screen where you can enter the correct bank routing and account information.

I hope that this information helps you out. Thanks for choosing TurboTax and Good Luck, Bea

The irs says that my check was deposited on February 5th and my turbo tax was says it was estimated for the 17th and as I followed the blue bar that tells me when its accepted was filled on the 17th and I still haven't gotten my my deposit and its been more than 21 days I called my bank and they haven't got anything and I confirmed with them if I had the correct account  number and routing number I'm sure I put the correct information but still haven't gotten my deposit..

If you have already filed, your only other option would be to contact the IRS directly. For more information on how to contact the IRS, please see the FAQ below:

The same happened to me. I opened a new account with Chase bank with my old address but since I moved out of state they decided to close my account. I put that new account for a direct deposit. I needed a new bank account since my current one doesn't have any branches in my new state. And all my files were accepted within 24 hours. so now I have to tell my old address to keep an eye in the mail for both checks. ughhhhh

I've received my Federal Return for 2019, but have legally separated from my wife. Our joint account is now closed, which my return was deposited to. Can I change my banking information with the IRS before the Stimulus Checks are sent out for the COVID-19 Pandemic?

@shawnjware1

We are still waiting for IRS guidance regarding the ability to change bank account information for an anticipated economic relief payments. If the IRS is unable to use the same means for the stimulus check as they did for your tax refund, then they will mail the check to the address on the most recently filed tax return they have on record for you.

Once things are finalized we will be able to provide more guidance. You can also stay updated by checking back on the following links.

You should update the IRS about any applicable address change you may have had since you filed your most recent tax return. Please refer to Update My Information for more information.

@Nino3030 Unfortunately, once you have filed there is no way to change your refund method. If you are referring to the TurboTax card, please click here for the customer care phone number. When you call the number follow the steps below :

  1. Listen to the recording (you cannot skip it)
  2. Press 2 to continue using the automated system.
  3. The system will ask you to enter your 16 digit card number or if you don't know it, enter your social security number (do not enter either one of these)
  4. The system will then say " To report a card lost, stolen, or never received, Press 1", then press 1
  5. Press 2 for the option of " have not yet received your card".
  6. Next you will be prompted to enter your social security number, zip code, and birth date.

You may also click here, for assistance with a lost card.

Once a tax return is filed and accepted the method of receiving a tax refund cannot be changed.

Unfortunately, you will be unable to change your direct deposit after filing your tax return. If there is an issue with your direct deposit you will be mailed a check.

I NEED TO CHANGE MY BANK INFORMATION

You are not able to make changes to your bank account information on your tax return once it has been filed and accepted by the IRS.If your return happens to get rejected, you can update your bank account before re-submitting your return as well as update the issue that caused the rejection.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/refunds/help/what-if-i-entered-the-wrong-bank-account-for-direct-deposit/00/26213

If you haven't filed yet, you can still add your bank account info for direct deposit.
