My fed taxes were accepted 2/12/21. I efiled state on 2/13/21 and as of 2/18/21 it still shows "pendind".  In my case, I efiled fed and cali but were rejected because I entered wife's name was entered different from last year. I changed it and resubmitted.

I efiled on February 6, 2021. My Fed return was accepted within the hour. My State return is still pending today. I have been a Turbo Tax Customer for 20 years and never had this problem. I emailed the CEO Sasan Goodarzi at [email address removed]. He referred me to the Office of the president at Turbo Tax.

I got a response from her saying that there was something wrong with my tax return and that they will do a extra review and get back to me in 48 hours where they will either fix it for me or send me instructions on how to fix it. Every one should email the president. I think Turbo Tax had a system failure. I reviewed all errors through turbo tax and the software said I had no errors before filing.

I'm a loyal TT customer, but I may try HR Block self return software next year.

I had the same problem. I emailed the CEO of turbo tax. I got a email saying they had a glitch in the system. I was sent an email today after I emailed the CEO, they recalled my taxes. I e-filed at 4 PM today and just got an email that my California taxes were excepted at 8 PM tonight

I just got this email & text:

Your 2020 California Personal return was rejected This happens from time to time, but we're here to help.  We'll walk you through updating and e-filing your return every step of the way.

I was able to resend just now (February 18th). There were no errors, software issue, just allowed me to resend.

Got the same notice and refiled. Hoping it works this time. I really have no issue with there being problems getting all the updates programmed and tested. My very serious heartburn has to do with 3 things; very disappointing customer service (they hadn’t a clue and didn’t believe me), absolutely no communication to us users alerting us to the problem along with an occasional update (until we started filling up the head dudes inbox it was crickets) and, lastly, they still have not admitted that this problem was on their end. The last point will likely cause me to seriously consider an alternative next year - I can accept mistakes/problems if you own up but to “wag the dog” hoping nobody notices is the kill shot for me (integrity is important in my world...).

I totally agree.  I appears that they have lost a customer (me)

I was just notified this afternoon that my California state tax return was rejected: "We've identified a potential issue in your California return due to an error in our software." I followed the instructions to open the software, check specific items in the federal return, then re-submit the state return (at no additional charge).

No idea how widespread these software errors were, so I don't know how many TurboTax users in California will be affected by this.

this is accurate. turbotax software wasn’t updated for some possible deductions. i just got mine rejected today for that reason

Had nothing to do with California had to do with TurboTax. Their software wasn’t up-to-date and I actually TurboTax took responsibility for the mistake

I actually had a different issue than everyone else initially with the return being rejected due to a TurboTax error with form 3849 - the Premium Assistance Subsidy.  The funny thing is I'm not eligible for any PAS either Federally or through CA, but since I filled out the Federal 1095-A Health Insurance Marketplace statement TT insisted I file form 3849 with the state (I tried removing it so I could file but it would just reappear).  The fix they said was to wait for a 2/18/21 software update and then refile, which I did early this morning.

I then got a second rejection, but this time it was for the same reason people have been seeing today -- potential deductions that might have been missed.  So it does appear that this was an auto-rejection for any pending CA efiles to allow people to make adjustments.  None of these deductions apply to me, so I just resubmitted it.  We will see if it "takes" this time.  Seems like an additional email to customers about these auto-rejections (if that's what this is) and better explaining the situation would have been helpful.

After emailing the CEO yesterday (upon the recommendation of folks here) and getting a "personal" response this morning -- lo and behold-- at 3pm I got an email that my state tax return was REJECTED because of a TT software glitch.   They walked me through the process of clicking a few things to re-file.  We will see if it's really fixed.   Regardless, I will most definitely NOT use TT again next year.  This is my 20th year using their services, and every year it gets worse.

I submitted my CA state return, along with my Fed two days ago. Got an almost immediate acceptance from the Fed but not the state. Today I got a notice the state rejected my return. TurboTax said the reason was an error with their (TurboTax) software. They told me to update the software and resubmit, which I did. Now I will see if it’s accepted.

Same issue here, except mine just came back as rejected.  It said it is a software issue on Turbo Tax's part.  However, I can't install the update.  It says that it can't access the network location.  I spent a total of 3 hours waiting for and talking to customer support.  In the end they both tried to blame it on Windows and referred me to Windows support.  Not sure where to go from here...but I know it is a Turbo Tax problem.
