I currently am unable to print either federal or my South Carolina Tax return with no updates available.

Here's a workaround I found.  In TurboTax under the File menu, select Preview.  A small window will open showing your return, but the only option is to Close.  However, if you hover your mouse over the return, there is an open in Adobe Reader icon just to the right of the magnifying glasses.  Click that and Reader opens.  From there you can print.

You must have a PDF compatible viewer installed to print the tax returns, such as Adobe Reader

I do have Adobe Reader and have for many years.  So it's not a reader issue......

Which TurboTax program are you using?  The online web-based or the desktop installed on a personal computer?

I have the exact same issue and I also do have Adobe pdf Viewer installed.  There's no place to click to save or print returns. It must be a Turbo Tax issue.

I have this same issue.  I am also using the desktop version.

I am also unable to print my returns or save them as a PDF.  I click on Print Returns, the program tries but produces nothing.

That solution of going to the preview and printing, didn't work for me. Maybe because some forms are still not available for printing? I hovered over the preview return but never saw a magnifying glass or Adobe Reader icon appear.

In case this helps someone else, I have my 2024 tax return completed and tried to print it.  However, the buttons or icons to print or save to pdf were not shown in the pop-up window.  There was a box in the lower right corner of the pop-up window that my state return was not ready as some forms were still being revised, and logically, there were no state forms listed as an option to print.  I tried to print  just the federal (with or without various worksheets), but the buttons were still not displayed.  I suspected they were being overlaid with the state warning message.  I was able to switch to Forms view and print individual forms.

After much trial & error with TurboTax support we discovered that if the state return was removed, it would print the federal.  If you have not made any updates to your state return, this seems safe, but you will need to restart the state, which will import data from the federal.  If you have made changes already on the state return, they will obviously be lost.  The other option would be to print individual froms from the Forms view....or just wait until the forms for you state return are finalized.

Same problem--TurboTax Deluxe Mac. When I try to print the bar goes back and forth a few times and then quits.  I'm hoping for a fix in an update.  I tried printing from previous years and I can do so.  Must be glitch in this year's program.

In case this helps someone else, although I was unable to print (or save to pdf) my federal or state tax returns, when I deleted my state return (as mentioned in a previous post), I could print my federal return, and today I was able to submit (file).  I was still unable to print my state return.  However, after I looked at the list of forms available for my state on the TurboTax website, I noticed that estimated tax payment vouchers for the state were "not supported for eFile".  I updated my state return and said "no" to the estimated payment vouchers for the state, I was then able to print and file my state return.  In case you need the link, here it is:

Note that they indicate that it may take a few days for TurboTax to incorporate any late documents into the software.  Hope this helps a very frustrating subtle and frustrating situation.

I talked to a person from Turbo Tax.  You have to drag the box that comes up and make it bigger.  The buttons are hidden but there to print.  It is difficult to make it bigger but possible.

I called TurboTax and they said NJ State forms will be ready to print Feb. 13, 2025. And the tax form say the forms are not available for printing.

I have Turbo Tax Premier "Desktop" for Mac and I also am unable to print my return.  If you click on "print return" a popup comes up "printing..." and after a few moments it goes away but not before a "thunk" sound is emitted indicating an error or a popup was denied.  I have both Adobe Acrobat Reader (and Editor).

I also tried to use "File / Preview" which opens a very small popup with the return populated in it.  However, the download button does not work.  It does nothing.  So Preview does not work either.

I've been using Turbo Tax for over 20 years and this is the 1st time I recall having this printing problem.   I'm a software consultant and I believe this to be a bug.  Please help!

Hi I followed workaround instructions from someone and they worked.  There are a number of steps but you need to go to the top bar and select file, then select preview, a window will open and you will select what return(s) you want to preview, also select whether you just want to print the tax return, recommended forms or all forms, click preview, a small window will open up showing your form, hover over the form and you should see a pop up showing the + and - signs for making it bigger or smaller, but you will also see to the right of that a square with what looks like an old fashioned ink bottle in front of it.  Click or double click on the image of the square/ink bottle.  The return will open up in a PDF file and you will be able to print it by selecting from the top bar file, then print and your PDF will print.  Give that a try and it should work.  It is a long workaround, but until they fix the print button in their program it is the only way I can get it to print.  I have printed a number of items that way since I tried it.  Good luck
