Is the date on SSN when issued for first time will be same as the second time (re issued) card? What will be the difference between both cards? Does it mention anywhere that it is re issued?

Thank you

I hadn't heard of a re-issued card either...but I didn't research at all.   I know for a fact that when you order a replacement card, the date on it is the date it was printed.  I ordered mine the end of June, its got 7/03/2017 printed on it.

Thanks, then I guess, the date will be same even if the SSN card is re-issued. But want to give sometime if anyone have some answers. If not, will resolve the question with your answer. Thanks Again!

Is there an income tax question in this?
    March 10, 2024

Yes, in that even if a child should qualify for the Child Tax Credit, it cannot be claimed if the date of issue of their SSN (printed on the SSN card) is after the due date of the tax return.  Example, my 15-year old son only got his SSN in Nov 2023, therefore when filing 2022 tax returns I cannot claim CTC for him, even though he "should" qualify on all other counts.

But, it seems that in this case the "Other Dependent Credit" can still be claimed in its place.

    See: https://www.hrblock.com/tax-center/filing/credits/itin-child-tax-credit/

Maybe there are other ways the SSN issue date affects taxes, but this was my use case.

re-issued or a replacement card?  A replacement card will show the date it was printed and sent to you (the date it was replaced...I just had to get a replacement for mine).
