TurboTax’s Live chat feature is here to quickly connect you with a tax professional while you're working on your return. This feature is available daily from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM PT.

 

To access the chat feature:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax Live account
  2. Select Live help on your screen
  3. On the Hello screen, select Connect Now, enter your question and select Continue
  4. On the next screen, select Chat with us. Enter your details and select Get a chat. You will be connected with a specialist as soon as possible
  5. When you’re finished, close out of the chat box and select Exit chat

If you minimize or lose your chat conversation, select Live help to reopen your chat window and continue.

Where are you logging in?    Make sure you are signing into the same TurboTax Account you used to prepare and file your tax return.

hello! I just tried to file my taxes and my mom claimed me as dependent and then I claimed as independent on my taxes. I need to switch it because it’s not letting me claim my tax return. It keeps getting rejected so I’m wondering if you can help me switch on my thing so I can get it.

Please go back to the "My Info" section in TurboTax and check the box to indicate that "Another taxpayer can claim me as a dependent on their tax return" and then answer "Yes" to Will this person claim you on their 2024 tax return?  

 

Once you have done this, you should be able to e-file successfully.

My mother carol hall bought your program which says 5 returns can be filed and she's filed a return for her and my dad, my brother, and me, but when she went to file mine she was charged $118

@PepsiPete1987 It sounds like she strayed into online TT instead of using the desktop download.

 

 

We see people get confused and they keep logging in to online software which will require them to pay at the end.   You need to use the desktop software.   One way to tell if you are using the right software---your tool bar.   Online software has the toolbar in a black vertical column on the left side of the screen.   Desktop software has the tools up on the top of your TT screen.

 

 

You appear to be posting from online software instead of the desktop CD/download software that the license code is for.  If you are using online, you are using the wrong program.  You need to switch to the desktop software to get what you paid for.  You have to download it, update it and open it up from your own hard drive to use it.

When you use online TurboTax you get one return per fee.   Each return needs its own account and user ID.  If you use the same account and user ID for more than one return, the second return overwrites the first one and it is lost forever.

When your filing status changes to Single, it is best to start a new account with a new user ID.   It is too difficult to delete the embedded information from a spouse if you use the same account that was used for past joint returns.

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund then the banking information on the tax form is the information to send your refund to the third party bank.  That bank gets your refund first from the IRS.  They take out your TurboTax fees and send the rest to you---and that bank has YOUR direct deposit information.

 

 

When you choose "refund processing"   TurboTax gets its fees when the IRS releases your refund.  Your refund goes to the third party bank.  The bank takes out your fees and then that bank sends the rest of the refund to you.

What is Refund Processing Service?

 

 

 

 

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.

I want to ask you about my FEDERAL refund. The website said I will get refund and It said "Ready to mail" but I never recived it. And also I checked the refund status but couldn't find it. What should I do? Also, can I have the refund directly deposited into my bank account? Thank you.

@Rinka If the status on the TurboTax Tax Home website indicates "Ready to mail" then that means you have to print and mail the tax return, it has not been filed.

You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".

 

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

 

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

Or -

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state. 

This will take you back to the 2024 online tax return.
