Seen a few issues in this forum, not many.

Installed a 2024 TurboTax Premier edition on a Windows 10 Dell PC and the same download on a Windows 11 HP laptop with no issues.

We have seen some users who are having issues with the download, but nothing here that rises to the level of "avalanche"---so not sure where that idea is coming from.  There will be plenty of updates to the software over the next several weeks.

    To call TurboTax customer support

Customer support is available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time Monday-Friday

I had the same issue and after searching for a resolution Intuit posted a "super patch".  I suspect the users impacted are downloading the super patch thus you are not seeing the amount of frustration on the post.

    @sk27

The main issue I have seen with the very earliest of releases (Nov & maybe early Dec)....was that their computer did not contain the correct copy of Window "Visual C++" installed on it before installing TTX. I got the latest installation version of TTX Premier, directly as a TTX purchase on Friday, 3 January. When I installed that on both my laptop and desktop computers (Windows 11), it also initiated an install of Visual C++ before installing my TTX Premier.

SO the software staff appear to have backtracked and written that software check into the most recent versions of the Desktop installation files.

I don't know if both the X86 and X64 versions are both required or not, but in checking my installed app thru my "Settings" selection, I already had the Microsoft Visual C++ X86 version installed on my computer, but the X64 version was the one that TTX initiated during the installation process for the TurboTax 2024 software.

I installed TT Deluxe on Feb 17.  It worked until I updated Windows 11 on Feb 18 to ver 24H2.  Uninstalled and reinstalled TT.  No help.

FINALLY got thru to TT support and they sent me an email to uninstall all versions of C++ and try again.

Now I am good to go!  TT Install forced new install of C++ x64.  So that is the version it wants.

    February 19, 2025

yes the C++ fixed it for me too

I would agree not an avalanche of issues but those of us who have used the product for years are seeing more issues and slower updates that what we have seen in the past. I would also say that usually in early January the updates are at least once a week and in the last week not even one. So maybe we are just having a slower start this year which is fine. Still laughing though that K-1 is not available till the end of the month.

I think the software was released without aqequate testing. I tried clicking on help and got an error. The forms use drop down boxes that don't work correctly. I think as more people start to use it there will be more reports of issues. The management that approved these design changes should be questioned as to their qualifications. How can you have any confidence in the software when it is so buggy? If I need to do the calculations manually I don't need TT.

    There are issues:

    1) Nearly 75% of my data input screens are blank when I click to enter information. Example, when I click the  update button for 1099-INT the system goes to a blank page.  I can view the actual forms but there is no program window to input any data to populate the forms.

    2) I can't import information from Quicken despite the fact I am using the current versions of both TTX and Quicken.

    3) The financial institutions search function is missing many banks.   I realize some financial institutions may not have their 1099s available yet, but some do.  When I used the Online version in past years I could search for and select my bank and if the information wasn't available yet the system would tell me when to check back.  I can't even get to that point now though as the search field seems to be incomplete.  Example, the USAA logo is on the download tab so presumably it's an institution that supports TTX downloads but it isn't available in the search list.

    4) The Desktop link for "Help Desk" brings up a bad request and I have to click another link to redirect to the correct page.

I am downloading TTX directly from the Intuit website rather than a third party.

I've had two help desk techs simultaneously working with me for an hour to try and solve these issues w/o success.  The only thing that has worked is to completely uninstall TTX and then reinstall it.  That fixes several of the problems for about a day and then the issues return.

Running as an administrator as SteamTrain suggests seems to correct at least some of the issues and will see if it corrects others.

On a related note, is there some way to manually import 1099s and other documents into Desktop like there is for the Online version?  The only options I can find are either download directly from the financial institution or type it all in myself.  The Online version also had an option to upload a digital copy from my computer.  Curious if this feature is available for Desktop and if not, why not?

I find this interesting; I have used the desktop app all the years I have used Turbo Tax. I think I tried something else for one year and then went back to Turbo Tax and never looked back. Worked no matter what type of work I was doing. This year is a bit off but overall, most of my entries are done and for the sections that are still in process I won't have the data for a few weeks after the date they posted. At no time would I ever say that the desktop app was not worth using.

    January 27, 2025

I have used the download version of Turbotax to file my taxes all the way back to when the programmer actually answered help calls.  (He said it helped him to identify improvements.)

But this year is a total disaster.  More programming than software.  TT near-demands that I allow it to pull in data from my financial accounts.  I totally hate that.  I want to track exactly what goes into my return, not poke a key, let TT do whatever, and hope it all works out.  TT has narrowed its potential customer base by their arrogance.  I'm disgusted.

One glitch is that for 2024 IRA distributions from Contributory IRAs, if Federal and State Income tax is withheld (and reported in the correct boxes 4 and 14 on the 1099-R) TurboTax does not include those amount in 2024 taxes paid.

It does when I entered by form 1099-R.  Federal on Form 1040 Line 25b.  State in the correct location on the state tax form.

I have been using Quicken and Turbotax for many, many years.

For some reason, Turbotax 2024 will not run on my (Windows 10) computer. Meanwhile, Turbotax 2023 runs fine.

Today I wasted 2 hours and 24 minutes on the phone with a bunch of customer service people who were apparently just trying to guess what might be wrong. Each of them had me do all the same things the others had, over and over again.

After 2 hours and 24 minutes we all gave up. That time is in addition to the 25 minutes it took me to get someone on the phone in the first place, along with all the time I wasted trying to get the program to run over several days before I gave up and called.

BTW, Turbotax shows an error message but gives no clue what the error is. It invites you to send report to Intuit with your email address. I did. Three times. I never heard a word from anyone.

So. After all these years I can no longer use Turbotax?

This level of customer service and disrespect for the customer's time is, quite frankly and quite honestly, the worst I have ever seen. Extremely disappointing.

I’m going to hr block next year. My cousin had so many issues this year, he tossed TurboTax and bought hr block. He said he was able to transfer his 2023 TurboTax information to HR Block in 12 seconds so he didn’t have to manually input 1-2 hours worth of his data. Wished I had known it before I bought expensive version.  I think it all comes down to this is the first year I was not able to load a CD into my windows pc because TurboTax stopped producing them, and I had to do the internet download.

It appears that Intuit is NOT addressing the profound discontent of so many [previously] loyal customers.

Recently installed TurboTax Home and Business 2024 on my iMac which runs Os 15.2.

Having problem entering my property tax for my own home.  Contacted customer support and they connect to my computer remotely and they couldn't find out why.

Is anyone else encounter the same problem?  I have uninstalled and re-installed the software, but the problem persist.  Thanks.

"customer support .. connect to my computer remotely and they couldn't find out why."

This should be sufficient. You shouldn't have to ask others for support.

Your issue should be on a trouble tickent and your email on a list to be notified when the bug is fixed.

I can't get to the filing part, freezes every time,

    February 6, 2025

I am having the same problem but can't seem to find an answer. I guess I will need to call for assistance.

    February 6, 2025

Interesting that all of you are still having issues. Other than the issue with property taxes I have had no issues. I am using deluxe with state which I have used for years. Updates are going fine for me and my original download version back in early December did install the C++ add on again even though I had a version from previous years and this one was not a new version. As a number of others I have been using TT for 25+ years with little or no isssues. Yes this year is different than prior years and I tend to chat with more users who can't file online who have tried HR Block and left it behind. Also my prior years are working fine and continue to update occasionally.

    Just a heads up.

I realized why all my boxes were blank.

Dont forget that Intuit owns Quickooks and Turbotax

I was attempting to do my TAXES and logged in with my side business email (the one I use Quickbooks with).

This obviously did not show any prior taxes, info or anything.

When I logged out and relogged in under my TAXES account everything was fine.

If you have a side business, LLC/partnership/Corp, and use desktop or online Quickbooks, make sure you log into Turbotax under the account you file taxes with every year 😁
