I can't get Turbo Tax to e-file. The final review doesn't show any errors.

All of the program updates are up-to-date.

It says "This return has certain forms that can't be e-filed, usually because of tax regulations, so you'll need to file by mail. For more details, select the Review tab, above, and continue through Final Review. To file by mail, select the file tab, continue and select File by Mail."

I don't want to wait for mailing it in.

what forms? certain forms for your return may not yet be final so until they are you can't e-file. Turbotax is waiting for IRS approval so there's nothing it can do at this point. mailing your return with invalid forms may hold up your refund even more. The IRS won't open e-filing until 1/29. Submitting them now and they will just sit on Turbotax servers until that date so you can wait.

I tried to e-file today and receiving the same message about certain federal forms can’t be e-filed. Has anyone been able file yet? All my forms appear to be available according to the link.

The problem with this is TT is not upfront about it. After spending hours figuring out if I did something wrong, searching for known bugs, and finding online chat support, then I found this post. This is the last year I am using TT

If you check the threads TT has been living to people for 3 weeks, I've been told 3 different stories as well, they are blatant frauds.

"Dan and Christa, You Cannot E-File These Returns." I have the EXACT same issue, cannot E-file, but TurboTax lists no errors upon review. Spent over an hour with TurboTax HELP last night and got no where, case #[phone number removed]. I have been using Turbotax for 20 years, never an issue until this year. I ATTEMPTED filing 3 times, Jan 28th, 29th and 30th of 2024, no luck, says I must file BY MAIL both federal and state.

TurboTax software makers are a bunch of idiots..... Ever hear of testing your product PRIOR to rolling it out to the public. Half the US uses this product. Next year going with a competitor of TurboTax. This has nothing to do with my State or the Feds not excepting it, this is at the SELCTION step where yo choose to E-File or by File by Mail. Our taxes are really easy, one stock sale and standard deduction, no "certain forms" that can't be e-filed as TurboTax states..... Only button that works is to go BACK and file by mail.

Use the browser instead of the app, and when you go to review it will tell you which form isn't ready and when it will be available. Alof of people filing self employed will be waiting until the 7th for the form 7206 to be available.

I'm not filing self-employed. It is a simple one w-2 return. I've always efiled with TT without issue for years.

Well in your browser scroll down to review and check to see which form/forms are not ready.

I tried e-filing today 1/30 and got the same message. I also have a schedule C with my return. I'd love to know how to fix this. Should I delete everything and start all over? I really hate to file by mail.

I just took out my schedule C which I have e filed every year and now it says I can e file so there is so glitch which hasn’t been resolved yet.

The link takes me to the right article but when I click on "send me updates" it asks me to log in even though I already am logged in and it just goes in circles. Another thing in turbo tax that has software issues. It's like they went from a great product to a POS in one year. I have to wonder what kind of morons they are using for software engineers.

Any luck yet ? It's been almost 2 weeks since this problem, and TT tax is selling thousands of Software CDs and downloads KNOWING they don't work?

Spoke with IRS this morning 1/31/24 and Rep checked their records/info for 25 minutes and confirmed that she found NO notes/messages that there was any issues with Tax Regulations Nor were there any issues with any backlog of Updates pertaining their forms. She even checked each form within my tax return and found No problem with any of the business forms. She suggested that it could be the Turbo Tax Software that has a problem.

To All of us frustrated:

Are you using the download or desktop version of TurboTax or the web/cloud version? It seems like the web cloud version is working and the issues are only for the download/desktop version?
