I am having the same problem with the program sticking at several points on the income summery page. When we try to review an area, we get the spinning doom blue circle.
Using premier, downloaded from disk
Have rebooted the computer
Have tried to enter another way, but can not see the path through.
I have the same issue -- using Windows 10 version of Turbo Tax Premier. I am trying to add information on form 1099B whether sales are Long or Short (all of the rest of the data was successfully imported). Sometimes I can get 5 entries done before the message "not responding", sometimes it is 1 entry. I was able to do over 500 changes in the beginning -- now I get the "not responding" message quite often and I have many more changes to make. I have defragged and checked for updates already
We just had the same problem trying to review our 1099B. We have 1000s of transactions and once we click start it stops responding. Using Windows 10 with 845 GB memory available. We rebooted 4 times plus restated a few times, same response.
I'm not sure which of the following fixed the looping problem, but it is fixed.
We purchased TurboTax from Costco and called the number on the back of the disc ([phone number removed]). The help desk sent me a download via email to install updates (as opposed to the normal updates that happen every time I log on). First time I tried to get past the stuck screen after the download, I continued to get the whirling circle and "Not responding". The help desk put me on hold while they were making arrangements to get me a new version of TurboTax to download. I walked away from computer for at least 5 to 10 minutes and when I returned TurboTax was responding and never locked up again. I did not download a new version nor did I uninstall and reinstall TurboTax; though uninstall/reinstall was also suggested. I do not know if I just needed to leave it in the "Not responding" error run for 10 minutes or there was something critical in the download PLUS the 10 minute wait that got me by this hurdle. FYI, it is not my system, my PC far exceeds the requirements set by TurboTax as minimum requirements.
I have been fighting with this for 2 months and TT has given every excuse about it being the computer. I have done a brand new download, I've used a brand new computer, and 3 other computers and it still freezes up. It non stop freezes. I have cleared the cookies, and every thing, even though the computer was brand new. The Problem is with Turbo Tax, and it's about time they get the top brass involved.
I finally get passed the freezing. I simply walked away for I forgot how long and came back with a next step of preparation screen. It froze a few times after that but only for a couple seconds. I was able to finish and efiled today. Hope waiting is the solution for you as well. Good luck!
i ordered turbo tax Premier from Amazon. I tried to load the disc yesterday and it does not work. I have the license code (as it came with the disc) but the installation process does not get me to the point where I am able to punch it in.
A potential cause is that your video card driver may not be compatible and needs to be updated. Please see the following help article for more information:
2021 TURBO TAX program is the WORST. I have uploaded from the program disc and after installing the program innumerable times I click the icon on the desktop and I get to the registration form. Without any entries the computer gives me the registration screen and an error message "code 214". Upon requesting help, on line and through the COSTCO help number I get referred to the turbo tax support website by a recording where there are hundreds of responses BUT none of them address my problem. The program tells me to re-install but I get the same results every time. If this is the best TURBO TAX can do it should get out of the business. --CR
First make sure your OS is up to date ... uninstalled or partially installed updates will mess with the program. Also don't have other programs/windows running in the background as the program is a memory hog.
when I try to transfer information from turbo tax online or 1099B forms I get a pop up message for "login" keychain password. I tried several passwords and used my keychain to find it; but that will not work either. nothing I try will work. It just spins.
I had the same issue -- using Windows 10 version of Turbo Tax Premier. Closing and restarting program failed to resolve issue. However, restarting the computer fixed the issue and allowed data entry to proceed.
When I click on the 'File' icon in the top banner, I do not get a drop down menu that provides a 'Save', 'Save as' and 'Exit' choices. I only get a note that says 'Not Responding'. I have to click on the close 'X' on the top right-hand corner of the program to close it. When I do, I'm asked if I want to save the file before closing. I click 'yes' because that's the only way to close and save.
