I have used for software previously for years. Over the past 5 or 6 years we had a tax preparer do it for us because we owned a business and needed the expert help. instead.

Things changed last year and we decided to take over the preparation ourselves and purchased "Home and Business edition from Sam's Wholesale Club.

I enjoyed using the software while I was entering our information and numbers. However, at the end after I had finished the entering, I hit the Check for errors tab and it said everything was fine and I filed it by "e-file. I beat the midnight deadline.

Unfortunately, by 10:00 AM on the 16th, I received a message stating the IRS and the State rejected my returns. I scrambled home to do the error correction on the return. Apparently, I had entered the wrong AGI and it kicked back. So, I corrected the AGI and resent it. I used the "check for errors" button and it pasted, again.

Again, I got another rejection. But the rejection said something about my wife's PIN or SSN.  I checked the PIN and it was correct and her SSN was correct. I resent it again. I got another rejection, something about the IRS would think this was a duplicate return that I should print it out and mail both of them through the mails. Naturally, this will make my returns received past the deadline, and probably a late fee on both returns. Plus, I am not even sure if what I sent was accurate, which will delay the acceptance and possibly more fees and fines. I was surely hoping to not to have to go back to the preparer with "my hat in my hand" needing his help. Which will cost me more money. I would appreciate some consideration for my purchase with you and I hope to use your software again.

 Thank You,

@Jim Sizemore

 If it was rejected for AGI—-your 2022 AGI might not be in the IRS system if you filed late.   Try using zero instead.

If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

If you do not owe or are getting a refund there is no penalty for missing the deadline.  And ...you have five days to fix a rejected return and re-file and still be "timely."
