Why is form 8995A still unavailable?

I've been ready to file for a while now but Turbotax is saying I can't file because Form 8995A isn't available yet. First it said it would be available on 2/12/2020 and now it's saying 2/20/2020. I can go to the IRS website and find the form which is available now - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8995a.pdf

I tried calling Turbotax support and the person I talked to insisted the form isn't available yet, even through it very clearly is.

Anyone know what's going on with this?

Would it make you a little less angry if you were made aware that other tax preparation software companies are having the same issue? One of those firms has a release date for 8995-A of March 5th.

I am very disappointed that TurboTax hasn’t figured out how to get this form working. It’s February 16th! The form is available on the IRS site and this bureaucratic mess shouldn’t delay people from filing. You guys need to get this fixed ASAP.

Even the IRS has the availability of the 8995-A as To Be Determined for e-fling - https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/list-of-available-free-file-fillable-forms

Nobody is talking about free file. Free file is not for businesses filing a schedule C!

I'd suggest TurboTax  change the notification to users. "The government is still working to finish this form" is not really correct.  More accurately TurboTax should tell users "we (TurboTax) are still testing the new  2019 version of Form 8995A, and we  expect to have this form available for users on February 20th."

I would  feel a little less frustrated and angry if TurboTax just told the truth instead of blaming "the Government".

My professional program just released it yesterday ... this is an issue for all parties involved.  That is not an easy form to integrate ... in fact I am so happy the program will do it for me as I don't want to do it manually.

February 16, 2020

Then stop saying it is an IRS delay...no, it is a TURBOTAX DELAY...don't be so stupid aggressive.

February 17, 2020

I'm waiting on this BS form for a $7 deduction that I'll end up not being able to take anyway as my itemized deductions do not exceed the standard deduction.

This is ridiculous. I suggest that everyone who is blocked by this call customer service to emphasize the problem. It doesn't seem like they're properly acknowledging it.

Also, why is this question marked as 'solved'?

With all due respect, clogging the customer service phone lines is just not going to help.

Intuit has acknowledged that the form is delayed via the availability matrix posted in this thread. This is not exclusively an Intuit problem, as much as some people apparently want you to believe it is.

February 18, 2020

You're right, it does seem like a general IRS delay. But TurboTax could do a better job at communicating that clearly, given that it is a very unusual situation. The very fact that there are tons of confused people on this thread is a sign that the communication didn't get through.

Is this date definite? I’ve heard it keeps getting pushed back.

The worst part for me is I don’t actually need to file this form. TT is pulling in old data from when I used to do freelance work, but I can’t delete the form so therefore cannot e-file until the form is available.

I just updated my Turbotax Premier for Mac today, 2/20 and the update installed...yet I still get the error that "Sch K-1 Wks-Partnerships (BUSINESS NAME, LLC):  Activity name has entries for deductions such as section 179, depletion, section 59(e)(2) and other expenses that may be individually limited.  For purposes of the qualified business income deduction those expenses are not yet supported.  This will be enabled in a subsequent release."  The supposed answer to this question was the availability of the 8995 and 8995a, but yet the problem persists!

February 21, 2020

Got an email from Turbotax today, saying the form was ready.  NOT.   Still getting the error that "Sch K-1 Wks-Partnerships (BUSINESS NAME, LLC):  Activity name has entries for deductions such as section 179, depletion, section 59(e)(2) and other expenses that may be individually limited.  For purposes of the qualified business income deduction those expenses are not yet supported.  This will be enabled in a subsequent release."

Anybody have any more info?

February 22, 2020

I got an email saying that all of my forms were ready. And then when I updated and continued my taxes, it's still said that I had to wait on the exact same forms.you think that by now someone at TurboTax with contact or comment directly to clear this all up.

February 20, 2020

Has anyone been able to get this fork yet ?? I've been waiting to file for two weeks

February 20, 2020

Just got it and it works!!! At first, form wasn't there when I opened TT this morning I there was no notification email. So, I hit the "check for updates" option under "online" pull-down menu. Sure enough the update was available. Not sure why TT didn't automatically check for the update like it usually does.

Whatever. I installed the update and taxes (with form 8995A) now appear to be good to go.

February 20, 2020

THIS IS REALLY UPSETTING. I'm still missing 8995A as well as Schedule C. Update says I'm up to date (both manual and auto), TT says I'm missing 2 forms and can't file. What do I do now?????????????????????

February 20, 2020

Seems it got passed the issue with the unavailable form today, but now it's turned into a new issue: it says that e-filing is not available because of this QBI deduction and that I'll need to file on paper. Seriously?!

Hopefully, this is still a point in time thing as they get their act together after the final form became available...

Here is the complete message for the record:

We Won't Be Able to E-file Your Return

It looks like you have a form or tax situation in your federal return that TurboTax doesn't support for e-filing. We do support it for filing by mail.

Here are the details:

You have QBI Deduction Worksheet Schedule B - Aggregation of Business Operations, in this return.

Don't worry, even though you are unable to e-file your return, we'll still help you file your return by mail.

February 20, 2020

I get the same message. Just print the 50 pages and mail them yourself should not be the solution when the form is available to e-file!!

February 20, 2020

If it was going to be all of this, TurboTax could have just said then it won't be ready to file until March. If I don't hear anything by Monday, looks like I'll be just printing everything myself. I individually looked up all of those forms and they are all available on the IRS website. (NOT DRAFTS)

Good news - Form 8995A is now available, with no "Do Not File" limitation, in 2019 TurboTax for Windows.
