Why is form 8995A still unavailable?

I've been ready to file for a while now but Turbotax is saying I can't file because Form 8995A isn't available yet. First it said it would be available on 2/12/2020 and now it's saying 2/20/2020. I can go to the IRS website and find the form which is available now - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8995a.pdf

I tried calling Turbotax support and the person I talked to insisted the form isn't available yet, even through it very clearly is.

Anyone know what's going on with this?

I would  feel a little less frustrated and angry if TurboTax just told the truth instead of blaming "the Government".

Would it make you a little less angry if you were made aware that other tax preparation software companies are having the same issue? One of those firms has a release date for 8995-A of March 5th.

IRS site now says February 28th....sheesh!

Funny, my friends who purchased and used Tax Act were able to complete their taxes and the 8995 forms were available with them.

I was told the form would be available 02/20/2020, but it is 02/22/2020 and still not available.  I contacted Turbo Tax to see if the release date was moved to a later date and was told to try again tomorrow and if it is not available , print out form on my own and mail to IRS (exact words). Does anyone have any updated information for this form?

From all the responses there isn't one that has a good answer.  From one response wait until March 5, 2019 might be the time the Federal Government gets their version out.  So I guess just wait?

I had the same problem.  Make sure you do the updates when you login initially.  My electric vehicle Chevy Bolt was added with the recent update.  This allowed me to finish our taxes.  Hope this helps

We have finished our returns.

But can't file because it's stating our 8995 is not available yet.

This is very frustrating anyone know what to do from here?

Thanks in advance,

Update your software.  Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen.  Click on Check for Updates.

Verify that the TurboTax software for Windows is at the latest release.  See this TurboTax support FAQ - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/updating/help/verify-turbotax-for-windows-basic-deluxe-premier-or-home-business-is-on-the-latest-release/01/25638

Same story this year!

January 29, 2021

The fact that the forms are available on the IRS website has nothing to do with any tax software program.  The forms are available if you are going to download to complete on your own.  However, e-filing is different.  Once the form is finalized by the IRS, it has to be coded into the special language the software uses and has to be thoroughly tested for calculations and e-filing acceptability.  IRS then has to approve it for e-file.  It always takes a little longer for a form to become available for e-file in a software program.  I hope this helps you understand the situation.  At this point, the IRS expects to approve the form 8995A on TurboTax e-file as  02/018/2021.

Again that is not necessarily the date it will be released in TurboTax. Last year it was a thing as evidenced by this thread.

Its April 1 and TT home and business says I need to paper file.  Is form 8995A again late as it was last year?

It APPEARS to be there, but give incorrect answers.

There ARE income limits for the deduction. However, they DO NOT matter if other limits are met. TT software ignores this and  TOTALLY denies you a deduction.

  • 50% of the amount of W-2 wages paid to employees by the qualified business during the tax year, or
  • The sum of 25% of W-2 wages plus 2.5% of the cost of qualified property."
