Question

Fidelity Investment import not working.

Greetings, I'm using TurboTax Premier desktop (Win10) and cannot import my data from Fidelity. I also installed TurboTax Deluxe desktop on another pc with the same problem. I contacted Fidelity and they indicated my forms are ready for importing. The Fidelity logo/window shows up but there is no place to enter my username/password. I did try another broker and the correct login window shows up with the two entries for login/password. Thank you for any assistance.

There was a recent update that should resolve the issue. Please follow the instructions here to manually update the software. @5flavors @scottvf

I’m sorry to report that this update did NOT fix the issue. I tried both Firefox and Edge. Same problem. This is getting tiresome.

My Turbo Tax is stating that i have to be logged in to an intuit account before i can import for Fidelity or any other financial institution. When i try i am automatically

logged out of Turbo Tax.

Deluxe download on Mac

Similar to the user above it said I needed to login to TT to import Fidelity Investments.  After I logged in into TT and try again it says:

"We found duplicate installations of TurboTax 2022

Either eject your TurboTax 2022 CD or delete duplicate installations of TurboTax 2022 on your computer. Locations are:

/Applications/<name>/TurboTax 2022.app"

For the record, I do NOT have duplicate installations.  I successfully imported from Morgan Stanley and American Funds without issue, and I do not get this same error for 'Fidelity Investiments - NetBenefits', although that last one did not successfully import either.  See that error below.

Fidelity Investments - NetBenefits error:

"This import was unsuccessful

We recommend you check your internet connection and try again. If we still can't get your info, don't worry. We'll help you enter it manually so you can keep working on your taxes."

Again, no issues with Morgan Stanley or American Funds import, just the two Fidelity. Very annoying.

Please follow the workaround here to fix this. Please let us know if the issue still happens after doing so. @singlecrowe2

Has your issue been resolved. I still cannot import fidelity tax data

February 24, 2023

No , i spoke to Fidelity and then had rep from Turbo Tax remote into my computer. After some time he told me it was a "glitch" with my computer... Funny i am able to import from other financial institutions as well as Fidelity Net Benefits(retirement) .

February 24, 2023

Funny how we all have the same "glitch" - more accurately known as "a bug in TurboTax".

I am having a similar problem.  I am using TurboTax Premier for Mac.  I get to the point where I sign into my fidelity account, it connects and then I get an error message that says the import was unsuccessful.  No, I do not have more than 10,000 transactions. I do have two consolidated Form 1099's to import.  Help Please!

I have now called TurboTax customer service.  The customer service rep basically said that she has been getting a lot of calls about Fidelity imports, but did not have a solution.

@taxgirl26

There are a couple of things you can try. Can you try the steps provided below to see if that resolves your issue:

  • Log completely out of your TurboTax account
  • Clear cache and delete cookies
  • Then log back in and see if you are still having the same issue

You can also try using a different web browser. Some of these steps have worked for other individuals.

You can also check here to see if any of these resolutions work for you.

TT pops up an Intuit/TT login screen.  Both the user name and password are greyed out.  TT won't let me enter my TT user name and password before I can even get to a Fidelity account credentials screen.  I'm using Edge11 as the default browser.

February 26, 2023

I can log into Intuit and also Fidelity but nothing can be downloaded, despite the message that it was successful.

Having same problem. Says transfer successful, but then just goes back in circle to continue leading to same requests and outcome

I was just having' problems importing from Fidelity as well. I switched my default browser to Edge and then everything started working. For another institution I had to log in to it on the edge browser first and leave the window open.... then I had Turbotax log in and it worked. Hope that helps you too.

[edit] I was just trying to help by posting the solution to my similar problem. I'm sorry it didn't help you, but is the bitching that I didn't help you really necessary??

March 13 and I cannot download my fidelity information.  Tried everything.

March 14, 2023

I have been trying for three days to download fidelity information. Downloaded two copies of TurboTax onto my Mac.  Switched browsers between Safari and Chrome.  Been online three times with TT customer support.  I always get the message the download was unsuccessful.  Going to switch to H&R Block. I’ve used TT for years. Very frustrated.

March 14, 2023

This is also my last year using TT.

You need to recreate your return in TT Online (where you can download the Fidelity 1099), save the .tax file to your computer, and open that in the Desktop version of TT.

Then you can proceed, business as usual.  I spent 8 hours today doing this process and I am ready to file.  No longer need to mail the IRS a 152 page PDF of Fidelity 1099.  Yay for me!!!

I love their banner ad as I'm typing this:. "Your taxes, your way.". More like "My taxes, their way."😂

Is TurboTax/Intuit working on this?

I am having the same issue importing data from Fidelity. 1099-B import was unsuccessful. I am using desktop version and have way under 10k transactions…

March 19, 2022.  Still cannot import Fidelity Statements to TurboTax.  Get failure every time

March 22, 2023

I am also having the same issue.  Does anyone have an idea of when this will be fixed with Turbo Tax?

March 23, 2023

Just surprised that the TT software people havent looked at CSV conversion to TXF.  I am trying myself, plus speaking to colleagues that are more familiar with Excel.  Bottom line is if you can find a conversion than easily you can download to Import> TXF files from Othersoftware .  Fidelity is offering CSV, Integrated Brokers offers PDF, CSV, TXF etc.. So far trying to find a fix with a conversion program, Fidelity doesn't want to issue a TXF, and TT is being more thqn generous offering me Badges, Kudo's and perhaps soon emperor of taxation .

March 23, 2023

It should not be necessary, but for $5 this bit of software can convert from csv to txf:  www.investotek.com

It worked for me on Fidelity 1099B transactions which were then easily imported to Turbotax.  If you are uncomfortable with spreadsheets, the provider will do it for you for $15.  Maybe TT should hire him!
