To get started, enter your military W-2 and verify your military rank when prompted within your chosen TurboTax Online product (Free Edition, Deluxe, Premier, Self-Employed). Your discount will automatically be applied when you file.

TurboTax Online (Free Edition, Deluxe, Premier, Self-Employed) is free for enlisted active duty military and reserve personnel.

Did you also check the box for military pay on the "Do any of these uncommon situations apply to this W-2?" screen after you entered your W-2?

So, if I got out in June 2019 I can't get the discount? I was active duty for half of 2019, I feel like I should get the discount.

This year TurboTax will recognize your W2 as Military Pay and apply the discount.

It did not automatically apply it to mine. I clicked on the military option in the uncommon situations section (turbotaxonline.intuit.com) as well.

I am a retired military and also a retired civil service employee. This year I bought my Turbo Tax from Amazon.com and was downloadedto my lap top. How can I get a discount?

The military discount is only for active military.

Turbo tax is trying to charge me $40 when I go to file. I am military. It has always been free. Please advise. I did not use any special upgrades

Hi, I am considered active reserves military, with an E-3 rating in the Air Force, but I do not have a military W2 and will not receive one, because I am still in college under the AFROTC program. I should qualify for the TurboTax discount, but I don't have a W2 to produce. Is there any other form of proof I can provide besides the W2 (i.e. photo of my military ID with ranking listed)? Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. As an E-3, according to the link you provided, I should qualify, but it still doesn't mention how to work around the W2, if you don't have one. Would you know of a way to provide proof of rank without providing a W2?
