Turbotax 2024 will not print: STILL NOT SOLVED AT 2/2/25

I've been using Turbotax for at least a decade.  I've got a very simple return that is ready to print.  Turbotax Premier 2024 is not letting me print.  There is no problem with my Canon printer.  I can print from Excel, for example.  My iMac operating system and Turbotax says my Turbotax application is up to date.

Update 1-27-25: By the way, I have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on my machine and I have had a session open during the failed print jobs.

Update 2: 1-27-25: Is there anybody that I can escalate the question to?

Update 3:It looks like there's an [phone number removed] number.  I'll try that on Friday when I get some free time.

Update 4: eight hundred - four hundred forty-six, eight thousand, eight hundred forty-eight.

Update 5: Still NOT SOLVED.  Opened Turbotax.  Checked for program updates.  Print job seems to start normally.  Got a "boop" sound as the print window closed.  Nothing prints to my Canon printer (which prints fine to other programs).  No pdf print file created.  STILL NOT SOLVED.  Will call the 800 number this weekend to try to get help.  Apparently Intuit published defective software.

Update 6: Sunday 2/2/25: Spent an hour on the phone with the Turbotax "Help" Desk.  Determined that they could not help me.  My new best friend Sam assigned an issue number (154 26 40 868)and said he would escalate the issue to "Tier 2".

The cherry on top of the brown smelly sundae was that I almost immediately got an email saying that my case was CLOSED.  So I called back in AGAIN to Turbotax "Help" Desk to confirm that the issue was still open.  Spent another 30 minutes on the phone to confirm that the issue was still open.  Was disconnected.  Spent another 30 minutes on the phone (second try) to confirm that the issue was still open.

Found that TURBOTAX HAD IN FACT CLOSED THE ISSUE.  Asked a Turbotax "Help" Desk person to reopen the issue.  She said she couldn't do it. That only my new best friend Sam could do that.

Still Turbotax 2024 for Mac  will not print.  Vaporware.

I am having the same issue. Everything is updated and I have the full version Acrobat installed, but can only get the program to preview the returns, not print. Clicking the "Print Returns" button shows it's prepping it to print, then it makes a sound and disappears. Restarted system a few times, cleared all the caches and nothing changes.

Same problem. I cannot print my tax return on i Mac. It acts like its going to print but them does nothing

I have the exact same problem with TurboTax Home & Business for Mac. Over the years it has always been hit or miss, but after a couple of tries, it would save to pdf. Now, it is just print, calculating, force quit or print, ding, force quit.

Luckily, I do not need to produce a copy of my return as proof of anything. However, it does not change the fact that I want a saved copy of all the returns filed.

Welcome to the TT club where customer service went to die. Been having the same problem with being unable to print & save state forms. Just got a refund from Costco (where I purchased TT) -- so there is that. Another oddity is that when I go thru File then Print Preview I can see all my state forms -- just can't print or save.  Unfortunately, TT seems to be burying its head on this issue.

The Fed forms do OK,print, save to PDF.

The state box says still waiting on state, SC, forms, so can't preview, can't save PDF, can't Print.

In searching web site, it says all SC forms are OK now.  I did update on screen, it processed, and

    still won't print state.

I need help.   I can't get a person at Intuit turbotax to talk to.

I have used TT for many years, never had any problems at all.

    Thanks.

The only way TT is going to fix this problem is when it starts to hurt them financially -- so ask for a refund due to a defective product.

I have the same issue -- NOT Working .. has there been any traction .. on this issue?

It has to be a bug on their end maybe related to which form you used. I do my families tax returns and I already did my daughters, e-filed and saved as pdf. I just did my mothers tax return. Only income is social security with a fuel credit on the state return. It's as basic a return as you can have and I can't save it as a pdf. When I try it says "completing calculation" and only allows me to save the turbo tax file. I was able to e-file and transmit the return but could not save as pdf. Hopefully they get this resolved.

Add me to the list of people with this issue.  Mac OS desktop.  I tried to print forms from the "Forms View" and all it does is think about it, then dings, and returns to the Forms View.  Nothing downloads and the printer is never contacted.  It is as if the forms just disappear into the ether.  All through the "thinking about it" process, my status bar shows TurboTax as "not responding".  Something is definitely wrong, given the number of people having this issue.  It needs to get fixed ASAP.

When you are in Turbo Tax, click on the tab "Save for your Records".

    Ignore "Print Returns".

Go to your desktop, and click File at the top left.

    Find "Save to PDF".

Choose a place to save your pdf, for example, your Desktop.

Go to your desktop and find the name of the file you just saved.

Open it, and it should open in acrobat reader and your forms should appear.

Find your print icon and print.

"Save to PDF" doesn't work either, comes up with the same message "Completing calculations..." and then nothing happens... I even checked my pop up settings and printer works fine.

I'm having the same issue with printing on my IMAC.  I can print anything else to my HP including Turbo Tax 2023, but not 2024.  Is somebody working on this?  I also cannot find a phone number to call anyone....

    Hi again...

The following is for MacOS users. If you're a windows user, sorry. Windows does not have a native pdf app that is similar to Mac's Preview.  As an aside, I actually patched 15 minutes ago and TT allowed me to save to pdf without having to use preview. My problem was always with New York, which was not patched today.

For Mac users who may be unfamiliar with Preview, here are the steps to save yourself time and frustration. If I had noticed Preview in the menu originally, I would have used it. But, I was not seeking to print, so I didn't look that far down the menu.

I have tested this on a new MBP and an older Mac Mini. They are all running the current MacOS. I use Preview all the time and it has not failed me yet. From Preview, I can export to pdf, save as pdf or print. Those are all the things that everyone wants from TT.

    Step 1: Use Preview

When you select Preview, you will see all the returns. Pick one or all. Then, a small pop-up window will appear. Click the 3rd icon from the left.  While the last icon should be download, nothing downloaded.

Once you click the icon, a locked pdf file will open. Just duplicate it or save it and the resulting pdf file will be unlocked. If your goal was to save the return, you're done. If your goal is to print, you can print.

    Bonne chance!

This worked for me, thanks for finding a work around.

    February 23, 2025

Just go to >File>SaveToPDF... in the TurboTax Menu on your Mac!

    Ph_D,

believe it or not, that doesn’t work for everybody — though it should.

I’m having the same issue with TurboTax 2024 on my Mac.
    won’t print

    won’t save to pdf

does not complete the full calculation bar.
just breaks oft10% through the bar.
    seems to me it’s a software issue…

    HELP !

    February 24, 2025

    Hi, Piv.
Can you see my post a few posts above your own? One of those 2 methods seems to work for almost everybody. Give them both a try, in the order I listed (least convoluted one first), and then please let me know if one of them worked for you.

    Best of luck!
