Turbotax 2024 will not print: STILL NOT SOLVED AT 2/2/25

I've been using Turbotax for at least a decade.  I've got a very simple return that is ready to print.  Turbotax Premier 2024 is not letting me print.  There is no problem with my Canon printer.  I can print from Excel, for example.  My iMac operating system and Turbotax says my Turbotax application is up to date.

Update 1-27-25: By the way, I have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on my machine and I have had a session open during the failed print jobs.

Update 2: 1-27-25: Is there anybody that I can escalate the question to?

Update 3:It looks like there's an [phone number removed] number.  I'll try that on Friday when I get some free time.

Update 4: eight hundred - four hundred forty-six, eight thousand, eight hundred forty-eight.

Update 5: Still NOT SOLVED.  Opened Turbotax.  Checked for program updates.  Print job seems to start normally.  Got a "boop" sound as the print window closed.  Nothing prints to my Canon printer (which prints fine to other programs).  No pdf print file created.  STILL NOT SOLVED.  Will call the 800 number this weekend to try to get help.  Apparently Intuit published defective software.

Update 6: Sunday 2/2/25: Spent an hour on the phone with the Turbotax "Help" Desk.  Determined that they could not help me.  My new best friend Sam assigned an issue number (154 26 40 868)and said he would escalate the issue to "Tier 2".

The cherry on top of the brown smelly sundae was that I almost immediately got an email saying that my case was CLOSED.  So I called back in AGAIN to Turbotax "Help" Desk to confirm that the issue was still open.  Spent another 30 minutes on the phone to confirm that the issue was still open.  Was disconnected.  Spent another 30 minutes on the phone (second try) to confirm that the issue was still open.

Found that TURBOTAX HAD IN FACT CLOSED THE ISSUE.  Asked a Turbotax "Help" Desk person to reopen the issue.  She said she couldn't do it. That only my new best friend Sam could do that.

Still Turbotax 2024 for Mac  will not print.  Vaporware.

I am having the same issue. Everything is updated and I have the full version Acrobat installed, but can only get the program to preview the returns, not print. Clicking the "Print Returns" button shows it's prepping it to print, then it makes a sound and disappears. Restarted system a few times, cleared all the caches and nothing changes.

I posted here several weeks ago... because my tax file would not print... somehow I got it to create a PDF... see prior post... I was using Mac OS Ventura on intel mac. I recently purchased a Mac M4 running Sequoia 15.3.1 and just installed the turbotax application. Upon opening it advised I needed rosetta for some intel features in the software to run on the M4 silicon mac. I installed rosetta. To make a long story short, I opened my tax file I had transferred over to my new mac and low and behold, it printed the first time, no problem! Guess turbotax thinks you need the latest and greatest Mac to be able to print from their application. Or they know something that we don't know but have heard inklings of, that taxes are going to go bye bye. So don't be so quick to send in any money but if you are owed a refund, get on it! Intuit should be ashamed of allowing this printing issue to continue without an update fix. I use Affinity software and when they had an issue, they had fix update out within a few days and also communicated that they were working on it. Heard anything from Intuit? Have they even acknowledged the problem? If you don't provide a quality product you are not going to survive the coming storm.

Thank you for the information. I am running Ventura. Not sure I want to upgrade to Rosetta. Who knows, something make cause problems with my Mac.

I did request a refund. Since I've used Turbotax for well over 20 years you think Intuit would address my concerns.

Yesterday I received a call from Anna at presidents office. She went through preview option. Yes it works. This is not a good fix. I told her to get IT department to fix printing problem.

She is investigating and will get back to me. My guess, Intuit does not want to spend to funding for repairing faulty program. I've not had printing issue with Turbotax for past 20 years.

I suggested Turbotax offer physical CD again. Charge extra, but make it available.

2/24/2025: After submitting my returns I tried to print a copy for my files. All I got was a spinning beachball. Using a iMac running Ventura with all updates. Restarted computer. Printing works from others applications. Based on comments from others with similar problem, it seems like an update is overdue to correct the issue.

I'm using iMacOS Sequoia 15.3.1 and Safari browser.  The 2024 online version of TurboTax runs OK will not print the Federal instructions pages.  All other pages (Fed + State) print OK.  [Date: Feb. 25, 2025]

I've been using TurboTax for decades and never encountered this problem where a "part" of the print package does not print.  TurboTax support was not aware of the problem and was not successful in solving.

I encountered the unable to print or save to PDF issue using the "Print Returns" button in TurboTax 2024 on a Mac.

I was able to select "File -> Save to PDF" from the menu bar at the top of the screen and it allowed me to save my return to my computer.

    Hopefully this works for others.

2/27/25, I am having the same problem. This should be the easy part and yet .......

Turbotax 2024 home and business says everything is up to date.

Yup, I'm still having the same problems. However I found this workaround from another member / community post that worked for me:

    dumetella Jan 28 2025:

"Here's a workaround I found. In TurboTax under the File menu, select Preview. A small window will open showing your return, but the only option is to Close. However, if you hover your mouse over the return, there is an open in Adobe Reader icon just to the right of the magnifying glasses. Click that and Reader opens. From there you can print."

    Hope this helps you.

Thank you, that worked!  You are awesome!

Have the same problem. Seems to be issue with the MAC version from the comments to this.  the save to PDF workaround kind of got me there. I think I have seen some 500 turbotax commercials this week.  If they could make software work and less adds, it would sell its self.

    March 5, 2025

It's mind boggling how long is taking them to fix it, specially when the software is not cheap at all. No acknowledgement or article about. It took a member of the community to share a workaround. I hope their QA for the most critical parts of the software are better.

Was contacted by Turbotax representative yesterday. I mentioned that Turbotax charges to e-file. Representative said that is true. Longer Turbotax waits to fix this print problem more revenue it makes from e-file. Yes, PDF works. Why should customers of Turbotax be required to work around their problem?

Customers need to demand Turbotax (Intuit) fix this issue with free up grade.

*** UPDATING on March 6 2025 with today's new release of TurboTax version 2024.r21.027.   Well The TurboTax Print saga for Mac Desktop continues:  Print is still not fixed for Mac Desktop users.

Still NO WORKAROUND working on my end.  Impossible to PRINT any tax return !!!! Now this borders on ridiculous.
Hello TurboTax QA and Dev Team?  Anyone home?  We are now getting close to 1 month from April 15th and you still cannot fix "print returns" in TurboTax?

    March 6, 2025

I still can't print from TurboTax on my Mac desktop. Now is says " may take 2-3 minutes for initial set to  to print " but nothing happens

    March 8, 2025

Hi, it took me time to figure how to print a hard copy for my records. The print key on Itruit doesn't work.  Follow my instructions below to print your copy.

    1. Open your Turbotax program.

    2. Go to File (located at the top bar of your Apple Computer.)

    3. While on File, scroll down and click to Save to PDF

You should now have a PDF saved in your computer for easy printing.

    Good luck!

Save to pdf works for me too and is easier than the solution I posted previously (Preview).

    March 8, 2025

My problem was after updating my airbook to a Mac M3 and Sequoia 15.3.1.  Everything works.

    March 8, 2025

Why is this marked Solved? I don't see a solution here? Still not solved on 3/8/2025, but I did find a workaround. Under File select Preview. Then, click the button second from the right, like a piece of paper with an inkwell or something (have no idea what it is supposed to be or what the arrow does other than nothing). For me, this will open a pdf in Acrobat.

@TurboTax, I've been using you since the 1990s. This is very poor on your part.
