DEMAND TURBOTAX NOT TO DISCONTINUE CD FOR 2024 TAX YEAR

intuit turbotax has made poor decisions in the past that have been reversed, because customers would not stand for it. Discontinuing the  CD version of turbo tax will not be tolerated by many customers and it will cost turbotax more than they plan on saving. I am asking turbotax to reverse this poorly thought out decision to discontinue the CD version and only offering downloads. I personally will not purchase a download and I am sure  they lose many current and future customers, because of this decision.

@MJeanCaudle   Why do you want the CD?  The Download program is EXACTLY the same Desktop program as the CD. You buy it the same way directly from Turbo Tax or in stores like Costco. When you installed the CD you still had to go online to update it. It's only the method you use to install it. Even when I bought the CD I used the download method to install it.   Don't confuse the Download program with the Online browser version.

Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac).

I also DEMAND TURBOTAX NOT TO DISCONTINUE CD FOR 2024 TAX YEAR.

I feel safe with a physical copy when and if my unit crashes can reload the program and reenter the serial number. with this download if it crashes then all is lost. I need a physical copy in my hand.

I have been with you since the floppy disk. if you change then I will change as well with the free federal and state now being offered.

@erchez410     If your computer crashes the download is not lost.  Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac).

You can also burn the installation file to a CD or save to a usb flash drive.

No CD from any other tax preparation software company.  It is that simple.

WELL, I DID PURCHASE THE DOWNLOAD AND IT IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. I logged into my account, clicked on "Downloads" and all that is there is a message that says "It looks like you don't have any downloads available." After a week of trying to contact a live person I have finally given up and filed a chargeback for services not provided through American Express. Should a live employee of Intuit read this I would suggest that you contact me at [email address removed] so this can be resolved.

Turbotax says if everyone is jumping off a cliff they are too.  Childish reasoning.

I guess I will go to a CPA and have my taxes done.

Tagteams answer to their customer is: "we do not care at all about you are your concerns."  That is intuit's position on customers.  They are sayign take a hike we could not careless what you think.

Something as simple as providing a CD option, even at extra cost, is more they they are wiling to do for their customers.

Yup clear sign of a company run by arrogant elites who just do not care.   I wouldhave thought better of a company from arizona.

so many of us old timers are used to buying a CD to install on our desktops. I have personally done this for well over 30 years. And now Intuit is going out of their way to exclude us by switching to download only. I don't mind paying more for a CD version, Please embrace inclusivity and consider reversing this decision.

If you dont, i will still buy the download version and ask my 17 year old niece or nephew to install it for me on my desktop, I just hate to be ridiculed as a dinosaur and be at the mercy of others to have it installed.    Phil

@pdoudar  I’m an old timer too, 72.   I’ve used Turbo Tax since it started too.  When you installed the CD you still had to go online to update it.   It's only the method you use to install it.    The last couple years  when I bought the CD I used the download method to install it. But last year for 2023 I bought the download from Costco online.  Installed it real fast. It was the same as the CD.  Most of the laptops and computers now don't have a CD drive.  And I had to get a new laptop with Windows 10 to run Turbo Tax starting for 2022.  You can copy the download installation file to a CD or to a thumb usb drive.  It will be alright.  You can get used to it.

Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac).

    dearest,

this is exactly what all these tech savey people tell me , and respectfully, i find it very condescending. Its so easy to do this and so easy to do that, then they make you a fool when you click on something and end up downloading a virus. Yes, I am terrified of downloading anything now, and I get very frustrated with companies that push me to download their apps on my cell phone. Cant even go to a restaurant now without someone telling me to scan a QR Code for the menu. Why cant I have a regular menu? Why cant I put real dimes and quarters into a parking meter? Why do I get bombarded with customer service surveys? Why do they make me accept 50 page user agreements ? Why cant I have a turbotax CD and just use it  anonymously?

It is very clear that the management team does not care about the customer wanting the CD's. We are placing all of these posts, and they are not paying attention. Well, if we all have do the download why don't we all move to the free program that the IRS offers on their web site and save the money of buying the program.

I have bought the CD every year for home & business from you and your other vendors going back to probably 2005 and do not like downloads.  Therefore, it would be nice if you listen to the public and continue to provide the option. Too much about the bottom line these days versus serving the older public and their requests.

    December 19, 2024

Indeed.  Totally agree, but cant find CD anywhere as of 12/18/24 - so we may be out of luck.  Hated the way they made you login to intuit to register 2023 version also.  Why do they play games every few years?  Might be time to start using a different software.  Each competitor I have read into states they will import a TT file to their software.
