DEMAND TURBOTAX NOT TO DISCONTINUE CD FOR 2024 TAX YEAR

intuit turbotax has made poor decisions in the past that have been reversed, because customers would not stand for it. Discontinuing the CD version of turbo tax will not be tolerated by many customers and it will cost turbotax more than they plan on saving. I am asking turbotax to reverse this poorly thought out decision to discontinue the CD version and only offering downloads. I personally will not purchase a download and I am sure they lose many current and future customers, because of this decision.

I have been a TurboTax customer for years. I agree with you 100% that a CD version of TurboTax must be available. I have had trouble in the past downloading TurboTax into my laptop and I do not want to possibly go through that again. Their move to discontinue TurboTax CDS is just plain stupid and shortsighted. Charge a couple more dollars if they have to for a version that would include a CD, but they should not be eliminating the CDS completely.

Very disappointed in this decision. I have used TTX for a couple decades and keep my disc every year. May have to search out other options.

the cds for 2020 and prior are probably f no use. even if you kept 2020 all the prior years installed you may not be able to open the app if you try. It happened to me when i tried to open 2020. no update server. Also, they cannot be reinstalled because the update servers for those years are gone as is the ability if needed to first download state returns used that year. as @imnotrod you can purchase the CD for an additional $10

My small law office has used Turbo Tax Home & Business for the previous 15-25 years, and I am not satisfied that Intuit has made this terrible business decision to only allow downloads of Turbo Tax with no CD as back- up. Computers are wonderful when they work, however, often information is lost or misplaced when the equipment fails for any reason. At times, the hard drive needs replacing - and without the program disc as back-up - you cannot retrieve the program files to open your prior tax returns. DON'T DISCONTINUE SELLING THE CD's in 2024. I'm upset Turbo Tax lied o me. I called today (Monday 12/30/24 10:23 a.m. EST) and asked about the disc, and that I cant find anyone who sells the disc. The representative didn't tell me TurboTax discontinued the CD version.

Actually she gave me about 6-8 stores (Staples, Walmart, Sam's, Amazon,,etc) where I can buy the disc. It wasn't until I further search, and found this site where now explains why I can't find the disc; IT'S BEEN DISCOUNTIUNED. All this searching and 7 minutes on the phone with Turbo Tax, and no one could give me the correct answer.

I can easily burn a CD on my own. This discussion is with respect to the basic principle of making the CD readily available and not double charging customers for past years versions. Very cute, but transparent price gouging. Why is it so difficult to get the purchase information on the CD? I'm clearly not the only unhappy customer. This is obviously an executive decision that only warrants an informative reply when Intuit risks losing customers. I'll still be looking at H&R Block. But, thank you for the information on how to purchase a physical CD. Regards, a former loyal customer.

My internet connection sucks. This makes it so difficult to connect and do updates and send my return to the irs. In 2023 the return failed to send I I had no idea for months.
So now I have to try to download the software off the internet. What about the people that don’t have internet?
I’m so disappointed in your companies decision to do this. It’s already been proven how unstable and unreliable the internet is and everyone stealing your information.

I agree. I think it is a bad idea to discontinue the CD. It makes me think twice about using TT.

I understand the download being identical to the CD. But I have bought TurboTax at Costco for many years. The last couple years TurboTax Home & Business has been $95.99 with a $20.00 "coupon," in their monthly sale booklet. Not this year! It's $95.99 at costco.com and amazon.com. So it will cost me $20.00 more than in the past. That is enough for me to look at other options.

@bedubya1 I gave up waiting for a Costco sale and bought it last night for the $95. Probably will go on sale soon. This year when I clicked the download link in the Costco email it took me directly to Turbo Tax to download it.

I hope it goes on sale in the store, but I doubt it. It wasn't in the December or January coupon book. Last year I bought it at the end of December '23.
